Lakshmi’s family was one of the first 100 families who adopted the improved cook-stove technology introduced in Nichla Talab village in 2015. Lakshmi is keen to share her experience of using the cook-stoves, which has brought substantial changes to her living pattern. Less consumption of fuel wood means lesser drudgery in collection and carbon emission, having a positive effect on health.
For Lakshmi, the key benefit from using the improved cook-stove has been the savings in time. While earlier it took her close to 1.5 hours to prepare one time’s meal, now it has reduced to less than 1 hour to prepare a meal comprising vegetables, lentils and roti.
Lakshmi has 5 children, all under 18. With the time saved, she is able to spend more time farming with her family or simply do nothing.
Lakshmi also shares that the LPG connection at her home does not help much as refilling does not come cheap and easily. Also, their taste buds demand desi cooking which makes Lakshmi and her family of 7 thrive through the arduous farming lifestyle.
